Course Purpose

This qualification is an integral part of a management education pathway across diverse sectors and industries. It aims to build the management skills and competencies essential for learners in any profession, especially those who supervise first line managers. The programme advances key management concepts, principles, and practices, empowering learners to lead, manage, organise, and oversee first line managers and team leaders. The scope of the qualification encompasses five domains of generic management: leadership, managing the environment, managing relationships, managing knowledge, and the practice of management.

A Qualifying Learner Will Be Able To:

Take the lead in initiating, developing, implementing, and evaluating operational strategies, projects, and action plans, as appropriate.
Recommend changes within teams and/or units to improve their effectiveness.
Monitor and measure performance, and apply continuous or innovative improvement interventions to achieve desired outcomes, including customer satisfaction, and contribute to the entity’s objectives and vision.
Lead a team of first-line managers, leveraging their talents and promoting synergistic interactions between individuals and teams to enhance individual, team, and unit effectiveness and achieve entity goals.
Build relationships by using communication processes both vertically and horizontally within the unit, with superiors and stakeholders across the value chain, to ensure intended outcomes are achieved.
Enhance team and team member development by facilitating skills acquisition, coaching, providing career direction, and capitalizing on diversity in the unit.

Who Should Study Skills Development Management Level 5?

The target audience for this qualification typically consists of managers who supervise junior managers or team leaders. In smaller organizations or entities, these managers may primarily manage the supervisors and staff within their section, division, or business unit.
