Precious Maseko a resident of Dassen Hoek, Pinetown has started saving towards funding her agricultural studies using her learnership stipend.
Like many everyday South Africans, Precious was left to fend for her studies after she completed her matric in 2014. Not knowing what or where to study, she too, like many others before her, started working straight after her matric.
“From 2015 to 2017, I worked as a waitress in one of the biggest food chains in South Africa. Thereafter, between the years 2017 and 2018, I worked at another food chain store,” Precious said.
Between the years 2018 and 2021, Precious was consecutively enrolled in two learnerships. “By the end of those two learnerships, it felt like I still didn’t gain anything during those two years spent at those learnerships. I was still confused about whether I wanted to further my education because I didn’t know which educational route I should take,” Precious said.
As soon as Precious enrolled in her third Business Management Administration learnership with Bconsult, she said there was suddenly a positive shift in her life. “Our facilitators are so invested in us, they motivate and encourage us, so much so I have started saving towards a qualification in agriculture with my stipend money,” Precious opened up.
“Our facilitators genuinely follow up on our progress, it doesn’t feel like a chore that they have to do when checking up on us,” she concluded.
