Course overview
The Occupational Certificate: Supply Chain Manager equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and workplace-based experience required to operate as competent supply chain managers. A Supply Chain Manager is responsible for implementing supply chain strategies, developing operational plans, setting performance objectives, and ensuring service delivery across procurement, logistics, and sales. This qualification responds to the increasing demand for integrated and globally aligned supply chain practices, supporting both national and international competitiveness. Learners will gain expertise in operational planning, risk management, performance improvement, and compliance assuring they can manage and coordinate end-to-end supply chain processes.

Entry Requirements
Learners must meet one of the following minimum requirements:
- NQF Level 4 qualification with Mathematical Literacy and at least two years of relevant work experience,
OR
- A relevant NQF Level 5 qualification
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be applied for access to the qualification or assessment, based on documented workplace experience and prior results.
International Comparability
This qualification has been benchmarked against international best practices and certifications in supply chain management
- APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CPIM): Covers key areas such as procurement, logistics, reverse logistics, compliance, and risk management.
- CSCMP Supply Chain Pro Certification: Level 2 (SCPRO): Focuses on risk assessment, supply chain integration, network design, and sustainability.
While both international certifications focus on theory and examination, this South African qualification offers additional value through compulsory workplace-based learning, ensuring graduates gain practical, applied experience.
Occupational Trainer – NQF Level 5 Certification
This qualification builds on foundational learning at NQF Level 5 and progresses learners to a fully recognised Occupational Certificate at NQF Level 6. It forms part of the Occupational Qualifications Sub-Framework (OQSF) under the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).
